Discover the many facets of Rügen and Binz
There is one thing that we can promise you: Rügen’s diverse mix of nature and history suits all tastes and will simply enthrall you!
Discover the charming Bäder architecture and sandy beaches of the Baltic seaside resorts Binz, Sellin, Baabe and Göhren - all situated in the southeast of the island. Explore under a breathtaking beech canopy one of the many trails that lead to Rügen’s most famous landmark, the chalk cliffs of the Stubbenkammer in the Jasmund National Park near Sassnitz. Or visit the island’s architectural landmark, Cape Arkona with the two lighthouses and the remains of the Jaromarsburg, an ancient Slavic cult site. These attractions are located in the north of Rügen where you can also find the oldest fishing village of the island, Vitt.
History in a dramatic and entertaining way can be enjoyed at the Störtebeker Festival. This event has become Germany’s most successful open-air theatre and is held in Ralswiek. If you like it a bit quieter, a hike across the undulating grassland of the Mönchgut peninsula may be your favourite among the many attractions of Rügen.
